Story’s from the Millwall history files…
Neil Harris broke the all-time scoring record for Millwall as they beat Crewe 3-2 at Gresty Road to set up a fourth-round clash with either Newcastle United or Hull.
Crewe went ahead after just seven minutes through Luke Murphy but were immediately pegged back by a Scott Barron strike before Harris gave the visitors the lead early in the second half with his 112th Millwall goal, passing Teddy Sheringham’s mark.
Shaun Miller broke free in the box to put Crewe level with a right-foot strike shortly afterwards before Zak Whitbread’s header put the Dons through with four minutes left.
Cheltenham and Doncaster will replay after a 0-0 draw at Whaddon Road. Despite the incentive of a lucrative fourth-round home tie against Aston Villa awaiting the winners, neither team could convert what few chances they had.
Rovers striker Paul Heffernan rattled a post for the Championship strugglers in the second half while goalkeeper Neil Sullivan twice came to the visitors’ rescue as he saved from David Bird.
